Most people call three movies in one weekend a lot. A 60-year-old retiree from Pennsylvania did more than three a day, for a whole year.

Guinness World Records says Glenwood Hoskin Jr. saw 1,207 movies in theaters in one year, smashing the old record of 777. His run started in April 2024 and Guinness lists the record as achieved on March 31, 2025.

He planned it like a job. Every morning he checked the listings and mapped out how to fit in as many screenings as possible, from early morning until midnight, much of it at a Regal theater in York Haven, Pennsylvania.

The money part is the twist. He did not buy 1,207 tickets. He used an unlimited movie pass that Guinness reported costs about $28 a month, ate meals he made at home between films, and walked around the theater for exercise.

He says he started in the spring because he hates driving in the winter and wanted the record before the snow. A mild winter let him keep going anyway.

His review of the whole year: he liked The Wild Robot and Deadpool & Wolverine, and he says he cannot name a single movie he did not like. That is either the nicest critic alive or proof that 1,207 movies changes a person.
